Is Our Battle with Islam?

By now you have no doubt heard someone convincingly explain that Islam is a religion of peace. You have also no doubt heard someone convincingly explain that Islam is a religion of hatred towards Jews and Christians. So which is it?
One place you will not learn the answer is television. You can learn as much about Islam by watching television as you can learn about Christianity. And how much is that? Not much (with a few exceptions).
You also won’t learn the answer by looking at Islam’s worst examples. People have always hated and killed in the name of Allah. Likewise, people have always hated and killed in the name of Christ. We do not judge Christianity by its worst examples-terrorists in Ireland or Ku Klux Clanners in America. Likewise, we should not judge Islam by its worst examples-like al-Qaida.
Are we ever going to know the truth about Islam? Most Christians can’t explain Christianity. I doubt many of us will soon be able to explain Islam.
I really don’t know what to think. I plan to honor my Lord by not speaking about things of which I do not know, keeping an open mind, and seeing what I learn over the next couple of years.
One thing I do know: Whatever Islam is, it offers only false hope. It is no peer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
