532 – When You Feel Like God Has Let You Down
You have been faithful. You have done everything God asked you to do. And yet you are not succeeding. People don’t “get” you. It feels like God has led you into failure. You cry out to Him in anguish–even question Him. Or, like Jeremiah, accuse God: “Your help seems as uncertain as a seasonal brook, like a spring that has gone dry” (Jeremiah 15:18).
Here is what God said to Jeremiah, and through him to us: “If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me. If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be my spokesman. You must influence them; do not let them influence you!” (15:19).
So how will we respond back to Him? Will we doubt God? Or will we humble ourselves, clap our hands over our mouths, confess that we have thought and spoken foolishly, repent, remember the greatness and goodness of God, and persevere in faith by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith?
Be encouraged. And encourage your men with this remarkable lesson from Jeremiah. It’s going to be a great day!
