In 2005 Consumer Reports magazine compared the results from five popular diets. The hands-down winner was Weight Watchers.
Why? All the diets work, but success relies on sticking to the plan. And why did Weight Watchers stick with the plan? Weight Watchers uses a weekly meeting to reinforce their program. After a year, its followers were far more likely to stick with the plan. So how does this apply to us?
I’m proud of my church. It’s a vibrant, world-changing church with manly men. The strength of our men has largely been worked out in small groups. 48% of our men are in small groups—most of which meet weekly.
What’s going on in your church? Why don’t you challenge every willing man in your church to get into a weekly discipleship small group? Most meaningful change takes place in small groups. These men’s small groups will reinforce what the pastor is preaching, what the Sunday school is teaching, and what they are reading in their Bibles.
