Maybe You Missed God's Will

Because of tough times someone said to me, "Maybe you missed God's will." A good question to ask, but a terrible conclusion to assume.
Consider David, anointed king, then dodging spears and hiding in caves for the next 13 years. Consider Job who lost his business to terrorists and his children in a natural disaster. Consider Moses, called to deliver his people, a failed attempt, 40 years of confusion, sent to a hardened Pharaoh, finally freed, then 40 more years of murmuring against him. The list goes on: Abraham, Joseph, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Peter, Paul, Jesus.
I heard Oprah say, "People think my work is so glamorous, and 20% of it is. 80% of it, though, is just hard." Well said.
We must do our work while feeling the prick of thorns.
