Because I do spiritual work with men as my vocation, I am sometimes asked, “What’s the best thing a man can do if he wants to become a true disciple?”
If I could only suggest one thing, it would be these two...
First, the man who wants to be a true disciple of Christ should read his Bible on a regular basis. I cannot think of a single man I know whose life has changed in any significant way apart from the regular study of God’s Word. Conversely, Jim, Pete, Matt, Bill, and Mike have transformed before my eyes because they took the challenge to read through The One Year Bible with me this year.
Second, the man who wants to be a true disciple of Christ should be part of a men’s small group. Most meaningful change takes place in the context of relationships. Suggest your men meet in groups of two to twelve men. I’ve met weekly with a man, Ken Moar, for 28 years. I know there is a God in heaven because I know there is a God in Ken. Nothing in the Bible says you have to do this, but it would be a brilliant move.
For the glory of Christ and no other reason,
