I see this economic meltdown (which is just beginning) as one of the greatest spiritual opportunities of our lifetime. I would not be surprised to see millions of men come to their senses and follow Christ.

Today I want to give you a heads up for prayer on a book that I will finish writing today or tomorrow. It’s called How to Survive the Economic Meltdown. As the survivor of an economic meltdown in 1986 I can relate. Why? Because every day for seven years, I woke up not know whether or not I would be forced into bankruptcy. I thank God I didn’t have to, and in this book I will share the spiritual, practical, and financial strategies that got me through. A major feature of the book is to call readers to Christ and back to Christ.

Let me tell you a story a doctor told me over lunch. He had been despondent for some time, and his family and friends were worried about him. They had good reason to be. He planned to commit suicide.

On the appointed day he was staring at a bottle of 200 Phenobarbital in his desk drawer. The phone rang 30 times. He didn’t answer. It immediately rang again - 20 times. Again, he didn’t answer. And again, for 20 times. Finally, he picked up the phone. It was a close friend who lived 600 miles away

He said, “I’m at your airport. Come get me.” Reluctantly, the doctor went to the airport. But his friend surprised him and said, “I can’t stay. But I know what you’ve been going through, and so I came to give you this book.” And then he caught the next plane home. The doctor told me, “I started reading the book at 9:00 p.m. and at 3:00 a.m., I dropped to my knees and surrendered to my life to Jesus.” He has gone on to lead a victorious life.

That’s the power of Christian literature. If Jesus uses this new book to save just one man like that doctor, then it will all be worth it.
