“I Just Need to Weather the Storm”

With the economy in deep recession, a lot of men are saying or acting like, “I just need to weather the storm.” Is that the right response?

If you’re a Christian and not overly affected by the economic meltdown, what should you be doing right now?

For those of us passionate about reaching others for Christ, the question is not, "How will I survive economically?" (you will), but "How can I best serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ during tough times?"

If you have been spared, it’s so that can practically share the love of Christ by serving others. Suggestions? Ask you pastor how you can help in your church. Lead a weekly discussion group of distressed men using How to Survive the Economic Meltdown (see “How-To Guide” and “Discussion Leader’s Guide” at www.SurviveTheMeltdown.org). Watch for changes in posture and attitude, and offer a listening ear.

If I were a prophet (I am not), here’s what I think God would say to men not overly affected by the economic meltdown, “Christian, stop talking about weathering the storm. You really need to go and serve someone.”

Yours for changed lives,

Patrick Morley, Ph.D.
