Here's a personal update on some of the things I've been working on recently. Your prayers and any suggestions are always deeply appreciated.
Man in the Mirror New 10 Year Plan
We are grateful to God that we have met our 2010 "Big Holy Audacious Goal" (BHAG) of "reaching 10,000,000 men for Christ by 2010." Many of you have graciously offered your thoughts on our new 10 year plan -- which is where I have been spending a lot of my time. Tomorrow's Man in the Mirror Ministry eNewsletter will present the final draft of an Executive Summary of our new vision, mission, BHAG, and strategy. You probably already receive the eNewsletter, but if not you can sign up for it at Subscribe.
Speaking
This is my busy season. In addition to the Friday morning Man in the Mirror Men's Bible Study, I'm speaking 17 times in seven engagements in October and November (including Tucson, Ocala, Orlando, Columbus, Ontario Canada, and Amarillo). One of those was a 30 minute message in Tucson on "God's Plan for Revival" which has been posted on Vimeo: God's Plan for Revival.
Writing
Moody Publishers and I are wrapping up the final details to publish A Man's Guide to Work which will be released in January. It's interesting. A man spends about 50% of his 112 waking hours either working or commuting to work. Yet how often do we hear a message on our work? Most men are left to cobble together their own "theology of work." This book will hopefully help fill that gap. Also included in the book are some great workplace ideas from interviews with Dan Cathy, Norm Miller, Steve Reinemund, Wayne Huizenga Jr., and others.
Meanwhile, I continue to do radio interviews to promote the two books released this year -- Pastoring Men and How to Survive the Economic Meltdown. The latter book is available as a free download at www.survivethemeltdown.org.
The Man in the Mirror Radio Program
About a year and a half ago, Moody Publishers helped us start a one minute daily radio program which Bill Neff produces. Through Bill's steady plodding, the program just passed through the milestone of being heard daily on 100 stations. This takes about 1 1/2 days of my time every two months (I record two months at a time).
Focus on the Family
I was at Focus on the Family this summer for several assignments. A four-minute video from my trip entitled, "How do we encourage men to reengage with their wives and families?" popped up on a Google alert: Focus on the Family video.
Of course, there are also many things going on in my family (third grandbaby just arrived!), with my friends and colleagues, and personal spiritual growth for which I am extremely grateful.
I consider each day an enormous gift, and I hope you will pray for me, as I pray for you, to treat each day as an act of worship -- every thought, every word, every action.
No agenda but God; no agenda but God's.
