We're looking at reasons (some) pastors get turned off to men's ministry.

Reason numero uno? Every pastor knows, "A separate men's only ministry will only ever reach a small fraction of the men in the church." That's where the "all inclusive mindset" can help: If you have 100 men in your church, then the size of your men's ministry is 100.

Reason #2? - "Trampling on the pastor's feelings." If you missed it, you can catch up in the last Weekly Briefing.

On to Reason #3 -- "Dumping men's ministry into the pastor's lap." Often, a man goes to his pastor with zeal for men's discipleship ministry, but acts like the pastor had nothing else to do but drop everything and embrace his idea. He often doesn't do a very good job researching, explaining, or finding others to support the effort. He has no plan.

In fact, what he really wants to do is dump the whole idea into the pastor's lap and be done with it. After all, "He's the professional."

If you really want men's discipleship to work in your church, why don't you offer to be a men's discipleship champion? And don't be an amateur about it. Acquire the same kind of expertise and training you would get if it was a business deal. What pastor is going to hate men's ministry if you follow through like that?
