540 – For Every Church to Disciple Every Man
If you are a regular reader of this Weekly Briefing, you know that our ministry exists to help leaders disciple men. Our vision says it all: For every church to disciple every man.
It’s working. Every day we see men coming to Christ, growing in their faith, and serving our great God. For example, we recently held an event in Greenville, SC. A man named Jim came up to the speaker during a break in the event with tears streaming down his face. He shared how he and his wife have grown apart and how he has become distant from his children. Through sobs he said he wanted to make a renewed commitment to Christ and his family.
Chris Rondeau, our Area Director–our boots on the ground–connected him to a group of men in a follow-up group who are walking with him during these tough days. Chris sent this report after their first meeting: “Last night I asked Jim what his big take-away was from the event. He said that it was to be the spiritual leader in his home. So every day this week as he dropped his children off at school he held their hands and prayed for them! God is good.”
The gospel really does have the power to transform the hearts of men. But when God does this, he usually does it through other men. That’s why we are appointing local area directors.
We believe that having a field force to inspire men to engage other men in life-on-life discipleship is the most strategic opportunity for the church and for the kingdom of God. That’s why we’ve launched this herculean effort to recruit 330 Area Directors across the country. We’ve already brought more than 70 on board and they are having a great response from churches. There is a hunger among men and leaders for solutions that work to engage and disciple men.
Brothers, our nation is in desperate need of spiritual revival and awakening. If together we succeed on this great mission, we believe God will use our efforts to help bring this about. We cannot, we must not and, by God’s grace, we will not fail. We are resolute. We are determined. We will not be deterred.
We believe God will provide the funds needed to close our year-end gap and launch our 2014 ministry, but we know that He will do it through partners like you. Thanks for your prayers and passion for discipling men. You have been responsible for getting us this far with your finances and prayers. Now, once again, we need you to stand with us. Will you please pray about making a significant investment to help us close out the year financially responsible and strong?
