All Work and No Play Will Make You a Dull Boy!

Recently I sent a summary of the race results for my rookie year of amateur sports car racing and an action photo to a few friends.
What interested me was the wistful -- even nostalgic -- responses from several friends.
This email captures it...
“No hobby” or “no playtime.” That was me! Leaders, Pat had become a very dull boy...a one trick pony. All I was doing was work, work, work.
Recreation means to “re-create” ourselves. Racing has restored balance to my life. It could just as easily have been tennis, collecting something, or painting.
Leonardo da Vinci is credited with saying, “Every now and then go away -- even briefly, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer; since to remain constantly at work will cause you to lose power.”
I have found da Vinci’s words to be true in my life. How are you doing? Do you have enough power? Are you leading a balanced life, or have you become a one-trick pony? If you want, why not pray and ask God to open up a way for you to “re-create.”
