The 10 Issues Men Say Matter Most
Ask a Christian man who’s succeeding in life, “What’s your secret?” and he’ll probably tell you, “I had a mentor.” Or “A man took me under his wing and showed me the ropes.” Or something similar.
There’s no greater pathway to Christian success than for one man to intentionally coach (mentor, disciple) another man how to change his life in Christ in a way that will transform his marriage, children, place of work, community, church, and community. That’s what Moses did for Joshua, what Elijah did for Elisha, and what Paul did for Timothy. That’s why I wanted to write a book for the next generation of Christian men.
To make sure this book would scratch where men itch, I gathered a diverse group of twenty-four men in their twenties, thirties (mostly), and forties on a Saturday morning to storyboard the question, “What are the issues and topics that would make you feel compelled to pick up and read a book for men?”
They came up with a whopping list of 40 potential issues we posted on the wall! Then I gave each man five round, sticky dots and said, “Now vote your top five issues.” When the dust settled, 10 issues stood head and shoulders above the rest. Those issues became the topics of my new book, The Christian Man. Can you guess what they are? But first—here’s an invitation.
