Rooted and Rising: Helping Men Build Meaningful Lives

by | Oct 30, 2025 | Rooted and Rising Vision

A man finishes his education and steps into adulthood. He starts a career, gets married, begins raising a family, and builds a life in his community. We call men in this phase Builders—because they are building. They’re building careers, marriages, families, and futures. But in a world where truth shifts by the day and the noise never stops, many Builders are asking, What am I really building my life on?

Today’s men are trying to make sense of a culture that redefines truth, deconstructs faith, and confuses identity. They want to do life well—but they often feel spiritually adrift and relationally disconnected. At Man in the Mirror, we believe the answer isn’t just better strategies or stronger willpower. The answer is Jesus—and a brotherhood of men who walk together as disciples.

For forty years, Man in the Mirror has helped men experience the transforming power of Christ in every area of life. When God first called our founder, Patrick Morley, He said, “Bring my message of love to a broken generation.” That calling still defines who we are and what we do.

As we look to the future, our mission is focused on understanding, reaching, and discipling Builders. We are working to understand young men through cutting-edge research that reveals the real challenges they face in today’s culture—challenges often different from those of previous generations. This data-driven approach helps us meet their actual needs, not just what older men think they might be. We are learning to listen before we lead.

We are committed to reaching Builders where they are—because most of them aren’t in the church. We’re engaging men both in digital spaces, where we can connect online with relevance and clarity, and in community spaces, where meaningful face-to-face conversations and relationships can begin.

And we are discipling Builders by engaging them in authentic relationships with a spiritual father or small group, and by inviting them into local churches where faith can take root. We’re also helping churches prepare to welcome these men—not through traditions that no longer resonate, but through mentoring, small groups, and discipleship approaches that speak to this generation. Our Area Directors are on the ground in communities across the country, creating connection points and consulting with churches to help them reach and disciple Builders effectively.

If you’re a young man trying to build something that matters, we want to walk with you. And if you’re a man who’s already walked that road, we invite you to invest your wisdom in the next generation. Because when a man’s heart is transformed, everything he builds—his family, his work, his world—flourishes.

Rooted in our past. Rising to reach the Builders of today. Together, we’re building what lasts.
